Reflections from Carbon Forestry 2023: Insights and Networking

We had the opportunity to sponsor the attendance of many young professionals from various backgrounds at the Carbon Forestry 2023 event, fostering discussions and valuable connections. The Attendees have shared their experiences and key takeaways from the event:

Hannah's Perspective:

"I enjoyed the Carbon Forestry conference, learned a lot, and made useful connections. In my role at Discover Forestry, staying informed about the latest industry knowledge is crucial. The conference deepened my understanding of carbon forestry's current state and potential, especially with biodiversity credits. My favourite presentation was from NZ Carbon Farming, which cleared up misconceptions and highlighted their valuable work. I discussed our secondary schools program with them and explored opportunities with Carbon Crop, broadening our reach into various fields. I look forward to expanding my network and resources for Discover Forestry."

Logan's Reflections:

"I'm grateful to The WIDE Trust for sponsoring my attendance at the Carbon Forestry Conference. The event covered legislation changes, carbon markets, native reforestation, and more. It provided a chance to learn from New Zealand's forestry experts. The ETS is here to stay, investors favour the New Zealand carbon market, and there's growing recognition of the value of indigenous ecosystems. Restoration projects revealed challenges and the collective effort to learn more about our native forests."

Simon's Insight:

"The conference was at max capacity, reflecting market interest. Initially uncertain, the mood shifted positively as options like permanent carbon forestry emerged. My experience was positive, with valuable insights and networking opportunities. I connected with experts from various backgrounds. It was an awesome learning and networking opportunity, and I thank The WIDE Trust for sponsoring my attendance."

These insights underline the significance of events like Carbon Forestry 2023 in promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration in the carbon forestry sector. We love supporting initiatives driving positive change and innovation in the forestry and wood industry, building a brighter future for education and development in New Zealand.
